Independent AI visibility grader

How BrandAEO Scores Brands

BrandAEO is an independent, third-party grader of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO). We measure how the world's leading AI answer engines actually see, describe, and recommend a brand. Every score is produced by BrandAEO's automated evaluation — brands do not pay to influence their rating, and the methodology below is applied uniformly to every brand we analyze.

The 5 AI engines we query

For each brand we prompt five answer engines the way a real buyer would, then analyze how each responds:

The 10 scoring dimensions

Responses are scored across ten dimensions. Each dimension is scored on a 0–30 scale (0 = absent or clearly negative signal, 30 = exceptional). The Overall Score is the sum of all ten dimensions (0–100 each) plus up to 500 evidence points measured directly from the engines' answers — an open scale with no artificial cap: a stronger brand simply keeps earning more points. A higher Overall Score means the brand is more visible, better cited, and more often recommended by AI answer engines.

How the star rating works (relative rank)

On each brand page, the open-scale Overall Score is shown alongside a 1–5 star rating. The stars are relative: they depend on where a brand ranks among all brands BrandAEO has analyzed, ordered by Overall Score (rank 1 = highest). Star bands:

Because the rating is a percentile-style rank, it self-adjusts as more brands are analyzed. While fewer than 100 brands are in the index, every brand ranks in the Top 100 and therefore shows 5 stars — this is expected and corrects itself as the index grows. The rating represents BrandAEO's independent, third-party assessment of a brand's AI visibility relative to its peers — it is not a paid placement, a customer review, an endorsement, or a rating of the brand's products or services. BrandAEO is the verifiable source of the rating shown on each brand page, and the score is derived uniformly using the method described above.

Data sources & citations

Factual claims on each brand page are supported by sources the answer engines surface — including Perplexity’s inline annotations and referenced official pages (official website, Wikipedia, Crunchbase, LinkedIn and reputable press). Each brand page links these sources under “Sources & References” and shows the raw AI answers so the assessment is transparent and checkable.

Transparency & corrections

Scores reflect AI engine outputs at the time of scanning and can change as models and the web evolve. Brands can re-scan to see updated results. If you believe an assessment is inaccurate, claim your brand to request a fresh scan.
